Allow User to Enter Comments at Parent Level?

We have a text-formatted line-item where we want users to enter comments at both the child and parent levels.

The current solution works fine for the bottom level, but Anaplan won't allow comments at the parent level (Marketing - Corporate Memberships).

Is there a simple fix to this issue?

@rrist, Since it's a hierarchal list, Entry is only possible with the dimension applied in the module. Only way to do commenting at different level is to publish different modules. There can be workaround to allow entry at multiple levels but that will make it a complex functionality to just enter a simple comment. Alternative solution that I'm thinking of is create a form/ module with dummy rows and users select the Dept Level and the Dept they want to enter comment and then a line item to add the comment. it looks like this:

And then using formula we can display the comments at multiple level in a single line item. Make sure to turn on summary to formula. I'll not recommend this solution but we have a workaround.

  • Hi,

To put comment on parent level, you need do applies to line item with parent dimension.

  • Hi @skarki, is there a way to do this in the same module?

We need to include both P2 and P3 level to be editable by users. Anaplan doesn't allow two lists in the Applies To that are in the same hierarchy.

  • hi,

Yes you can create in same module but You need to create multiple line items each representing different hierarchy level and then you can create subview through applies to (list reference) in each line item using respective list in module .

    thanks

  • you can also use the comment-collaboration features available in the UX

  • Establish a different module specifically for taking notes or comments. A line item dimensioned by the parent level can be created in this module. Commenters can directly add comments to this basketbros line item and link them to the corresponding parent items.
