Skip hierarchy levels

I'd like to have option to skip hierarchy levels in a module when publishing it to a dashboard. Currently you can deselect some of the levels but it always leads to Hierarchy collapsion (please see screenshot: the brands are disconnected from the categories because the intermidiate level was deselected):

I would like on the other hand to make the resulting table act as if it was a completely normal module that doesn't contain the skipped levels of hierarchy.

For example we have a hierarchy:

1. Brand
2. SKU

Let's say we have a module with SKU dimension. I'd like to publish an SKU module to a dashboard without SKU level. In this case users would handle the resulting table as if it doesn't even have the SKU level. Thus they can easily apply Brand level filters - currently that's not available.
