Level 2 - Current Period

In the diagram below, the formulas for Current period? and Current period2? produce the same result i.e. Jan 20:

1)  Current period? ---> CURRENTPERIODSTART() = START()

2)  Current period2? ---> ITEM(Time) = TIME.'Current Period'

In what way would they be different?
