Anaplan Tableau Connection error

Hi,

We have a refresh extract set up between Anaplan and Tableau Server however it's not very stable.

Here is an example of the error message we are seeing:

com.tableausoftware.nativeapi.exceptions.DataSourceException: Name: Ajax Module unhandled error Message: {"jqXHR":{"readyState":4,"responseText":"<html><body><h1>504 Gateway Time-out</h1>\nThe server didn't respond in time.\n</body></html>\n","status":504,"statusText":"Gateway Time-out"},"textStatus":"error","errorThrown":"Gateway Time-out","settings":{"logAjaxSettings":false}} Stack: Ajax Module unhandled error: {"jqXHR":{"readyState":4,"responseText":"<html><body><h1>504 Gateway Time-out</h1>\nThe server didn't respond in time.\n</body></html>\n","status":504,"statusText":"Gateway Time-out"},"textStatus":"error","errorThrown":"Gateway Time-out","settings":{"logAjaxSettings":false}} at Object.createError (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/dist/wdc-framework-2.29.latest.min.js:1:1686) at Object._ajaxLibraryHasFailedByDefault (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/dist/wdc-framework-2.29.latest.min.js:1:2522) at Object._processOutput (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/dist/wdc-framework-2.29.latest.min.js:1:3257) at Object.<anonymous> (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/dist/wdc-framework-2.29.latest.min.js:1:4043) at Object.r (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/vendors/lodash/lodash-compat/3.10.1/lodash.min.js:26:189) at j (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/vendors/jquery/v1.11.3/jquery.min.js:2:27309) at Object.fireWith [as rejectWith] (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/vendors/jquery/v1.11.3/jquery.min.js:2:28122) at x (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/vendors/jquery/v1.11.3/jquery.min.js:5:22136) at XMLHttpRequest.b (https://connectors.tableau.com/wdc/2/app/vendors/jquery/v1.11.3/jquery.min.js:5:26030)

Things to note:

1. Whitelisting is set up correctly

2. Timeout - Tableau Server has a timeout of 30 mins for connections. We get this error after 5 minutes

3. This error doesn't occur at every refresh. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I've tried searching online but can't find anything obvious on what that error means. Anyone seen anything similar or know steps we could try to resolve?

Thanks!

  • Hi,

It is because computer running with low memory, so server is not able to finish the extract process. Meanwhile you can ask IT team to increase the memory of the computer running Tableau server.

Also see if you can apply some filters before running extract and if it works.

    Stay Safe,
