Remember that song, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For?”
It’s a great song, but the Anaplan Community team wants to make sure that it’s not the soundtrack for your experience with Anaplan content.
Meet our powerful Global Search tool and learn how to put it to work for you.
It’s a federated search engine, which means that it searches all of Anaplan’s online content hubs. That includes the Community, Anaplan.com, and Anapedia, our comprehensive source for product documentation.
In addition to that, the new search is machine learning–enabled, so it gets smarter each time you use it, offering all users better and more relevant results every day.
With such a powerful tool at your fingertips, we wanted to offer some tips and tricks to enable you to make the most of the Anaplan Community Global Search.
One of the most visible changes is the addition of search filters, which allow you to quickly refine your search results and help you locate exactly what you need. The number next to each filter tells you how many different pieces of content are categorized within that particular filter. These filters can be used individually or can be stacked, allowing for a level of granularity that is as broad or as specific as you need.
The Source filter allows you to choose which of Anaplan’s content hubs you wish to see results from: Community, Anapedia, Anaplan.com, or any combination of the three.
For example, if you are searching for information on an upcoming User Group Meetup, you may want to restrict your results to the Community. However, if you want to learn more about a specific calculation function, you will likely want to refine your results to Anapedia.
The Community Types filter will narrow your search results based on the type of content you wish to see. This includes high-level content types like Articles, Blogs, or Forums, as well as more specific types like Training information, Videos, Groups, and even individual Users.
The Topics filter will refine search results within both Community’s and Anapedia’s main Topics areas, such as Data Integration, Administration and Security, or Calculation Functions. This is particularly useful when searching for information related to specific elements of the Anaplan platform.
There are a few options available for customizing how your search results appear on the page.
List view sorts results in a single vertical column.
Card view sorts results in a grid format.
You can also sort results by relevance to the search query, or by date (either newest to oldest or oldest to newest, by toggling the Date button more than once).
At the bottom of the search page is an option to adjust how many results appear on a single page.
Each search result includes icons to provide at-a-glance information about the result’s source and type.
There are also content statistics that, depending on the content type, may include information about the content’s date of creation (or of the most recent update), location, and viewing trends.
All results (with the exception of User results) include a Quick View option to allow you to preview the result without leaving your search page.
No matter what you want to know, we want to make sure that you can find it. The Global Search function is a huge part of that goal and a critical element of user experience, especially as the Community continues to grow.
