Introduction to User Experience

With the Central Library and Engine parts of the model complete, it’s time to turn your attention to the end user experience – a critical piece of the overall model. However messy the behind the scenes pieces, the User Experience, or UX, must be neat and effective for your end users. After all, they are the entire reason you’ve built this model.

While dashboards are a major component of the UX, other Anaplan features also impact the way an end user interacts with the model. In the lessons that follow, you will cover the following UX components:

  • Building dashboards with text, module views and charts.
  • Conditional formatting, sorting and filtering on dashboards.
  • Using Functional Areas to organize the Contents Panel.
  • Adding users and customizing their experience through Roles and Selective Access.

If you haven’t done so recently, review the three user stories you’ve been building this model to satisfy. It’s important to keep these needs in mind as you build out the dashboards and other features of the UX.

The steps for creating the UX are included on the Basic Steps to Building a Model resource; if you haven't already done so, download it now (see attachment below), so you can refer to it later if needed.
