Planning and modeling enhancements

  • HyperModels: Build robust multi-dimensional models using large-scale data sets with HyperModels. Extending on the power of the HyperBlock, HyperModels drastically increase scale, allowing teams to solve more use cases and scenarios, integrate more dimensions, and solve for highly complex problems.

UX Updates

  • Collaboration capabilities: Exclusively available in the new UX, intuitive collaboration features help users communicate more efficiently. Notifications prompt and guide users when it’s time to take action and sharing allows teams to share boards and worksheets to zero-in on data.

  • Totals position: Builders can set the totals position in view designer for more control of grid behavior. In addition, the end user sorting function now matches the totals position of the underlying view.

  • Process detail: Process action dialog updates now hide detailed steps by default, making running a process with numerous steps a more seamless process for end users.

  • Field card updates: Builders can now configure the field card height for multi-lines. This allows larger input boxes for users to enter commentary or summaries.

  • Maximize Card: Maximize a card on a Board to fill the full screen. This allows the user to focus in on the area that is relevant to their needs, whether that be more detail on a chart, or filtering and drilling down on a grid.Watch this 50 second video on how this new feature works.

Notify Users to Take Action

  • Facilitate smooth handoff of work: Let users know when it is time to act by configuring a notification on page.

  • Engage users: Draw users into platform by setting the destination page, bringing users directly into the right place.

  • Add a default message notifications: Inform recipients with default and customizable messages when the notification is triggered.

  • Mobile access: Open the destination on mobile devices with the Anaplan app to be directed straight to the page inside the mobile app

  • SSO compatible: Notification are compatible with SSO logins that take users directly to the page after logging with the SSO provider.

Access plans anywhere with the mobile app

  • Biometrics on Android devices: Non-SSO users can now opt to use biometrics for a faster, smoother login experience.

  • Share a page on mobile: Use the mobile app to copy a page URL and share it using any available app on your mobile device.

Visualization updates

  • Gantt chart: Visualize your programs, projects, tasks, and promotions with Gantt charts in the New UX. Gantt chart project bars help teams with proactive future planning and allows them to spot and remediate potential bottlenecks, fast. In addition, users can plot key milestones to track progress, as well as use conditional formatting on bars or milestones to set the color based on business logic such as project status, budget, or resourcing.

  • Chart font sizing: Increase the size of labels on charts. This new setting is useful when viewing charts on a webinar to clearly see the numbers and labels.

  • Scatter / Bubble conditional formatting: The Scatter / Bubble chart now supports conditional formatting. So you can now colour the bubble based on some rules in the data such as profitability, size of market etc. The conditional formatting rule is taken from the fourth column in the view.

UX performance improvements

  • Page loading and data input: We recently released performance improvements in the UX related to page loading and data input.

  • Model loading message: A new model loading message lets users know when a model is being opened for the first time.

  • Faster board pages: Board pages now load faster based on an improvement to grid card loading capabilities. 

  • Grid view load: Only grids in direct view will load. As you scroll, new grids will load as required. 

  • Faster data input: Insert values faster so users can move freely and quickly from cell to cell while entering data with no delay.

Enhancements to the administrator experience

  • Admin on the New UX: Admins can access a new application menu in an ongoing effort to bring the classic and new UX experience together. Admins will also notice that the left hand panel has been revamped.
  • Visitors page - workspace admin: In our second visitors release, we added the workspace admin role to the page and inspector. In addition to viewing and assigning the page builder role, administrators can now view the workspaces for those visitors with workspace admin rights. 
  • Export - Assignments: Tenant administrators can now export a list of users that have an administrative role assigned to them. The export download is initiated from the assignments page in access control and will save to a .CSV file. 
  • Admin model UI - Classic: We’ve enhanced the admin models page by making the model name clickable and adjusted the page’s column widths to help admins get the information they need more efficiently.

  • Classic Dashboard Import tool: We are working on an import tool to help customers minimize the work required to move a classic dashboard to the New UX. This will be an accelerator tool and will pull across module grids and standard charts from a classic tool dashboard on to a Board page. The import won’t produce an exact replica of the classic dashboard but will provide a great starting point to building out pages in the UX based on an existing dashboard.

Leverage UX ALM to create, save, preview, and publish pages

  • Draft pages: Page builders will be able to create new draft pages before publishing them.

  • Save changes: Page builders will be able to edit pages in development and save their changes as they go until their updates are complete.

  • Preview pages: Page builders will be able to preview pages from design mode so they can see how it will look and behave in published mode before they publish the complete page.

  • Publish pages: As before, page builders will be able to publish their pages, which will make their drafts or unpublished changes available to end users.

Excel Add-in 4.0:

We are planning to release Excel Add-in 4.0: “revised upgrade and remap”. Thanks to this new version, you will benefit from:

  • Remap a connection: Change the source of your data in a few clicks, for example to remap a connection from your development workspace to your production workspace, or from one model to another. A highly-demanded functionality as per three ideas: 1, 2, and 3.
  • Accessibility improvements: Ribbon icons are now visible all Office themes, for all options including, “Colourful”, “Dark Gray”, “Black”, or “White”, to facilitate the visibility of the ribbon independently on your choices or needs.
  • File compatibility: From Excel Add-in 4.0 onwards, files will be compatible within major add-in versions (when the first digit is the same, 4 in this case). This means that users in the company can share and work on the same file despite being on different 4.x versions (e.g., one user might be in 4.1, the other in 4.3) without causing any disruption. This is a major step forward as it allows users to upgrade at their own pace. Please note that one user can only have one add-in version installed at all times. Add-ins versions cannot coexist on the same computer.
  • Workbook conversion: When you install a new major add-in version and open an existing file (e.g., a 3.4 file you want to use in 4.0), you can convert the file to the new version. Before doing this, we copy to a dedicated folder so you can revert back if needed.
  • Enhanced installers: Available in .exe or .msi format depending on your company policy, our installers have been redesigned for a more user-friendly installation and pre-requisite checks. The installer prompts you to download and install the relevant pre-requisites if you do not have them on your computer.
  • Simplified authentication settings: Switch between SSO and email/password authentication directly during the sign-in process as per this idea. This is great news if you entered an incorrect SSO friendly URL, or if you are a partner regularly switching between the two authentication methods for your multiple customers.
  • In-product help and feedback: Access relevant Anapedia online guide and Community content directly from the ribbon to find answers to your add-in questions. If you need additional help, post on the Community forum and/or email Anaplan Support.
  • Pre-populated support email: Reduce the resolution time for your support ticket by using the support email functionality. Answer a set of questions so our analysts can better understand your concern. Technical information is both attached to the email and pre-populated at the bottom so you don’t have to search for it.
  • Improved upgrade information: When a new version of the add-in is available, a discreet red dot in the ribbon will appear in the “what’s new”. When a new version has been installed, you will also have a direct link to the Community where you can learn about the new functionalities.
  • Roll-out information: The Excel Add-in 4.0 will be rolled out progressively to users in phases. The first roll-out will be via the feedback group. Then, the add-in will be available for general downloads on Anapedia. Finally, if you are using an add-in already (from 3.1), you will see the upgrade notification in the add-in itself. This phased roll-out will enable users in charge of testing the add-in to test out the new version first before rolling it out to their other users, in line with this idea.

Improvements to the way you Model

  • Flexible time labelling: Workspace administrators can label the models they build out by calendar year (CY) or fiscal year (FY), to better inform end users about the timeframe certain models represent.

  • Bulk delete users: Ensure only approved users can access particular models. Workspace administrators can now easily delete multiple unapproved users in a single action to secure access.
