I build a lot of stuff on Anaplan and always wonder, how quickly we can run out of space as we build(as we have an upper limit on the workspace - 130 GBs). It becomes a real concern when building models which already are huge and sometimes we are stuck and with the limitation, cannot proceed further.
I read somewhere and it summarizes as: To the biggest problems, we have the smallest fix, and keeping that in mind and informed about Anaplan Best Practices have one quick trick to share to save a lot of space while building.
I have seen many Model builders asking this question and creating new line items of the same format as the target is, when we have to clear data. For instance, if I need to clear data from a line item within a module, that holds the forecast data in number format, we would think of creating a new line item, of format number and then using an action, map the clear line to the line item to be cleared.
This is correct but by a small change, we can end up saving space and still achieve the functionality. We can just mark the Clear line item with format as "No Data" and as soon as we do that, this line item will not consume no space in the model and rest of the setup remains same, i.e. create an action to map the clear line to the line item from where data is supposed to be cleared.
Woohoo! That's all we need to do and the best part is that this works for all formats and that too without and additional space being consumed.
