How can we show exactly what user wants in an input template?

Its been a while I have not asked anything. What I need is as below.

I have a module with entity (filter) and CoA dimension (in rows) for user input in forecast months. That's working fine. But now I have to incorporate a cost centre item in the grid so that users will have an option to select a cost centre from list for every account. Is it possible in Anaplan. How can we give users a professional grid for input templates which shows exactly what they want.

I have been trying various options but could not get to what I want.

I appreciate very much if I get an advise for this.

What do you mean by professional grid? If you want to add Cost Center to the Input Module. Create the cost center list, and add the cost center line item to the Input Module format as cost center list. What is the challenge that you're facing?

In addition to Dikshant’s comment, here are a few ideas that came to mind:

A worksheet could be an option for the input grid.
You can use a staging module for user inputs and run validations/sanity checks there before sending the data to the main module.
You can also use UX page forms for intakes.

Hi Dikshant,

I have done exactly as you suggested. But I am not able to get both CoA and Cost Centre next to each other as cost centre is a line item. Users ideally want to choose a cost centre from a list and then input the numbers for forecast months. My line items are cost centre (list format) and amount.

Is there anyway we can put CoA (list) and Cost centre (line item) next to each other, which will look good in the ux.

@logikalyan : what is your module structure (in Apply to): Currently, do you have Entity, Account(CoA) + Time, Versions ?

If you defined the Cost-Centre as a Line-item, it means that for 1 CoA, you can associate only 1 Cost-Centre. Is it correct?

If the Cost-Centre needs to be added, consider creating a hierarchy of the Cost-Centre with parent the Entity list (new level under Entity) and updating the module structure.

Depending of the Cost-Centre codes, you could also decide to add the CostCentre as separate dimension (List) in the module and have 3 separate lists: Entity-CostCentre- CoA.

As layout: you can put CostCentre list in page to be selected by the user.

Depending how many CostCentres and CoA you have, you can also think to create a mapping module with CostCentre and CoA where you can define the valid combinations between the 2 lists in order that for the users are shown only the meaningful CoA for that particular CostCentre.

Thanks for your message.

I have tried cost centre as a dimension. But if I give CoA and Cost Centre dimensions side by side for user input. It will show for every CoA with all CC for selection which is not right. And also if we give CC dimension as filter user have to select one CC at a time and then input numbers. We have about 50 CC so it is not also good.

In regards to Entity and CC mapping, they dont have it so I cannot test now. But I will check.

I feel even that will be huge and wont be accepted.

I wonder if there is a easiest way for this. I will keep exploring.

You can consider to put the CostCentre in "Page" (not nested side-by-side). The user can select one Cost-centre at a time to input data on CoA and months.

Is it what you want?

It is also possible to create User filters for the CC, if really needed.

Hi Alexpavel.

I tried this but its not possible for users to chose 50 cost centre and input numbers for a100 of accounts.

I am not sure if there is a way for what I am asking for.

More granularity means more work for the users…. This will always be the case, regardless of the tool used :).

The only way to limit is to create the valid combinations between cost-centre and CoA and filter to show only these. This can be achieved by based on the historical data and also by manual activation of a valid intersecation.
