In all the model building exercises, we are importing list items from module, rather than importing list items directly from the hierarchy lists.
Any particular reason for that ?

great question and yes there is a reason for that. When loading from lists, there is no way to filter the list members , it is all or nothing including the parent members. On the other hand, when loading from a view and using line items, filters can be incorporated to only pull the data required.
