How to shorten names for a data flat file you use t import into List

Hi, 

 

I have a List that will get populated once a month from a flat file that is given to me from IT. The only issue is that some of the naming in the flat file is too long to bring in as a List. And if the name is too long then Anaplan will not bring in that name into the list. I want to know what is the best way to fix this issue?

Change the list to be a numbered list and use Text format for the Display Name.

Then I would need to change the LI to be a text verses a List and I wont be able to perform LOOKUP's on that LI.

I see what your saying to do, but I'm having difficulties importing into a number list now to populate the Display Name column I created in the properties portion of the List. Can you please provide me more detail on how you would do this?
