Today we are thrilled to bring back one of our favorite Certified Master Anaplanners, Mitch Aist, in our Community series on how to model build in Anaplan with alternative tools. Mitch has shared his expertise earlier this year in Part 1 showcasing how to create a model and versions, and in Part 2, demonstrating how to create a list and populate a list three ways.

Mitch’s videos can help those in the Anaplan community who may be looking for assistive technology to help prevent repetitive strain injuries (RSI) or for people disabled in the arms or hands. He uses Dragon Professional Individual by Nuance, and utilizes a foot mouse to reduce strain on the hand/wrist.

In part three below, Mitch goes into detail on how to copy a module, navigate blueprint mode, import data, and create a model.

Throughout the videos, you’ll see risk notifications displayed on the screen. Mitch chose these rankings because heavy use of the mouse and repetitive clicking movements can cause computer-related injuries, and voice input tools tend to strain the body the least.

  • Green (low risk) indicates the task can be accomplished purely using voice input.
  • Yellow (medium risk) indicates a small amount of mouse usage or clicking is required to complete the task.
  • Red (high risk) is reserved for times where a keyboard or heavy mouse usage and clicking is required.

Mitch will be joining us again soon to walk through how to pivot, filter, and create a UX page using alternative tools — stay tuned! Shout-out to Mitch for taking the time to add valued guidance for our Community.
