Incorrect % line item summary
Hello Everyone,
I've a list with 10 members where each member has a value of 10%. The summary for this line item shows 0.999.. instead of 1 in the backend. When I'm comparing the summary with 1 it gives me incorrect value. Does anyone know the reason for this? The summary is correct as 1 when the value entered is 50% for 2 list items. So I'm unable to figure out the reason for this. To resolve this I'd converted the % line item to number and the number again to % to compare it with 1.
Thank You.

Are you sure the other 10% members are really 10% or is that what you see. To figure this out, do the same exercise you did to validate the 100% and the 99.99% for the other 10 members.

Where are you seeing the 99.99 percentage? Can you expand the line item to 2-decimal places?

The other 10% members are actually 10%. Please see attached snap:

Hello @JaredDolich
Here is where I see the 99.99%. I've expanded the line item to 2 decimal places. See attached snap:

@nidhijhandai hahaha! Well, well, well. I tested this myself and I get the same result as you! I never noticed this - but 7 years ago I did an implementation that required precision 12 decimal places and it drove me crazy that I couldn't get it to work. I wonder if this is something that has been around a long time?
Anyway, not much I can do. I tried messing around with the precision but to no avail. I tried creating another line item that rounds to the nearest two decimal places and that didn't work either. Maybe @rob_marshall has connections at Anaplan that can explain why this is happening. Only other option you have is to log a support issue at support@anaplan.com
Sorry this is happening but glad to know there's a precision issue.

Yep, I did the same thing as @JaredDolich and found after 7 inputs (in my case), it blew up

Hello @JaredDolich & @rob_marshall
I tried another method where in I created a new line item with summary as formula. In that new line item (Test Summary from below snap) I'm comparing the 100% from Value with 1 and it gives correct result. This shows that in the backend Anaplan may have precision issue but it gives the correct math in below example. See below snap for the same, weird though

@nidhijhandai bizarre behavior. I'm sure the development team will be interested in seeing that. Hope you can get their attention, or at least have it documented as a known issue with the support team.
