Q&A

We encourage you to watch the recording, as most questions were answered live. Here are a few that were answered in the chat:

Q: What type of use cases do you see as a great fit for the hierarchy cards?
A: There are quite a few that are a great fit; from supply chain, to workforce planning and territorial quota for sales, which is a really good use case for hierarchy cards.

Q: Do hierarchy charts integrate directly with SAP or Workday and how did you apply the images to your charts?
A: So you can’t link those directly, but what you can do is either bring those into any other tool that you can link to in a line item or you can bring them into the Anaplan Asset Library. Then, in the APP library, they're inside of your plan tenant and they're secured by everything inside of your tenant. Then you can link to them here in the hierarchy chart!

Q: If selective access is enabled, what is going to be displayed at the top level of the hierarchy?
A: The main takeaway here is it works based on the view definition in the same way that you would be familiar with in a grid. As an example of sales reps and their territory access; One of the best practices for UX design would be, for example, if someone has access to all “1000”, they could click Americas on some other card and it will synch the hierarchy chart down to just the America’s. Or, if they just want to see the northeast, they would click on northeast and it will sync it down to the “50” reps that are in the northeast. Overall, you can use progressive disclosures.

Q: Could a user make any change in data displayed in a hierarchy card?
A: Yes but not via the hierarchy chart itself.

Q: Is hierarchy chart controlled by DCA or similar controls?
A: Yes, hierarchy charts are based on the view definition for the card.

Q: Any advice on how to get data to display on higher levels of the hierarchy? Only way I have seen is to use a formula summary method.
A: Any of the sum methods will work in the same way as if they were showing on a grid.

Q: We have configured P&L members as line items… by any chance can we create Hierarchy chart based on multiple line items rather than one line item?
A: The hierarchy will be based on one of the lists and multiple line items can be displayed on the cards. You can add them in the Hierarchy tab of the card configuration.
