Using Anaplan to filter on Anaplan

I'm really new to Anaplan so apologies if this is a simple one.

My hierarchy is set up as follows

Department
Hiring Role
Hiring Role_Site
Forecasting Task

I want to be able to filter on site & department separately. However, I can't add site into the hierarchy as the same site can exist for multiple departments.

I've added it as line item as I can tell from the name of the forecasting task which site it should be worked from but, with it being a line item, I can't figure out how to add it as a context selector.

  • @dannybennett : in your case, the "Site" can be setup as "property" using the line-item as you mentioned. It cannot be part of a Hierarchy.

The main characteristic of a hierarchy is that a child can have a unique parent and this is level by level.

However, you cannot use the "Site" as Context Selector.

You can simulate the context selector by creating a User Filter using the Site but I am not sure in what context/report you would like to use the Site.

    Hope it helps,

  • Alex hit the nail on the head, the context selector can only be used when you are leveraging the natural hierarchy as the mechanism to control the data being displayed. Adding User filter cards are the best way to allow users to control the data based on the parameters they input.
