Power BI connection to Anaplan -- multiple times credentials asked
In my project we have power BI linked with the Anaplan. Working in Power BI everytime there is some issue with the connection with the anaplan and it keeps asking for credentials. And also for password reset which is very frustrating. What can be done to have a secure connection?

Hello @BlessyDube ! This sounds like an issue that can be investigated by our Anaplan Support team to find the root cause of your credential problem. Please take any screenshots that you can to show this issue and submit a case to support@anaplan.com.

Hi @BlessyDube,
An addition to @JonFerneau 's response, you can use SSO for PowerBI and Anaplan. Try using Microsoft Entra for a more secure and smooth sign-in process.
I hope this helps!

Thanks @JonFerneau for your response, will definitely raise a ticket to support team.
@seymatas1 - To activate SS0 for an org do we have to go through some process or the tick activates simply activates, kindly guide. Thanks.

Hi @BlessyDube,
I used Anapedia instructions. and Microsoft Tutorial. You should coordinate with your organization's IT team. You can use Okta or Microsoft Entra for SSO. Since PowerBI is an MS product, I assume you use MS365, which means you should also be using MS Entra/Azure AD.
Step 1: Open up a ticket with IT to add Anaplan into the company's SSO system.Sample Email:
Hi IT Team,
I am reaching out to learn about identity management systems (IDMS) such as Okta and Azure AD. Does [your company] use any software like Okta or Azure AD for single sign-on (SSO)? If so, I would like to incorporate it with our Anaplan software. Since Anaplan contains the company's critical business planning data, I believe implementing a more secure authentication method than basic authentication would be safer.
Thank you.
[Your Name] [Your Title]Step 2: Provide Entity ID and Reply URL:
This is what I provided in the US.Identifier (Entity ID) for Anaplan: https://us1a.app.anaplan.com
Reply URL: https://us1a.app.anaplan.com/saml/SSOStep 3: Request metadata URL or Federation Metadata XML.
The URL is usually in this format:
https://login.microsoftonline.com/{tenant-id}/federationmetadata/2007-06/federationmetadata.xml
Step 4: Fill in the SSO connection information.
You should receive an xml file and upload it into Metadata URL part.
Step 5:
Turn on the SSO Boolean in the Users tab. Don't turn it on for yourself.
Step 6: Rotate the SSO certificate regularly.
Exception Users:
- There should be an exception user, preferably yourself or the tenant admin.
- Consultants should be exception users if they don't have your company's email address and SSO method.
- Maintenance Account that is used in CloudWorks and other integrations should also be an exception user.
This seems complicated but an experienced IT person can handle most of it after Step 1.
Hope this helps! 😊
