error select list 'Order list' action

I have some issues with an 'Order List' action.

I have followed all steps explained on 'Set up an order list action'.

When clicking on the order list, steps I do:

  1. fill in action name
  2. select the list that need to be ordered.
  3. Select the line item that is the base for the order (alphabetical ascending so I have a text line item (format: display name of the list) here with 1 dimension that is selected in step 2.
  4. I select ascending for sort order.
  5. OK

when running, everything runs smoothly ( action runs ), nevertheless, my dimension of the grid that needs to be ranked/ordered isn't.

When looking back at the action, the 'select list' is highlighted in light yellow and I have the notification 'the value entered is not valid'. With other words, my list is not a valid list. Now, when I select the right list (=which is actually the same list), the list is valid, the select item that I've selected last time, is selected automatically and I can run the action. After running, I looked back at the action and the select list had the same notification of 'the value entered is not valid'.

What do I need to do here?

Thanks in advance!

Module where you created text-formatted line item should have only that list which needs to be ordered.

  • I'm unclear on what you mean by the third step. Here's what I did: I created List A, then a module using List A, and added a text-formatted line item. I then created an action using that line item. This action ran successfully and reordered the list.

  • Hi, I mean the following when making the 'order list' action:

    1. fill in action name
    2. select the list that need to be ordered, this list already existed!
    3. select the text-formatted line item that I have added
    4. I select ascending for sort order.
    5. OK

When I run it now, it doesn't work and therefore I checked the action again. What happens next is the following (look at picture). The list I've selected isn't valid, nevertheless, when clicking on the same list when erasing it first, it works. As a consequence of selecting this list again, my previous selected line item pops up again in the 'select line item' dropdown.

When running it again, it still doesn't work!
