Bulk copy

Can you set up a bulk copy between models?

I have two models. One is a stand alone Financial Forecast with numbers adjusted in various modules and saved views. The version in that model is named the working forecast. The other model is our main Financial Forecast and I have created a version specifically for the data to be imported from the stand alone model.

Unfortunately, the Finance Director who has made all the changes to the stand alone model hasn't been clear about which modules/saved views/dashboards he has changed. I am currently trying to import all the modules where I am identifying differences but I wish I could work out a method of bulk copying that information. It doesn't look as though that functionality exists though.

Does anyone know if it does?

Hi @riccymiccy - you assessment is correct. The bulk copy action is only available to copy elements within a single module based on a targeted dimension (list/version). The only mechanism to move data model to model is via an import action.

Is there a way to consolidate the inputs within the standalone model to optimize the model to model data transfer? If not, you will need to create an action for each input model within the source/standalone model.

  • Thanks Tiffany. I was thinking about my query later on yesterday and realised that the ease of the bulk copy in the same model is that you know that all the dimensional attributes are in existence. Of course when copy from one model to another, that may not be the case e.g. missing entries from lists, missing accounting codes.
