Adding a new column... WHY do i have to SHOW all of them and HIDE again

No idea where the 'suggestions' forum has gone too, so will try posting this here.
I have a module with 48 columns, and i have a dashboard where 24 of these columns are visible in a user requested sequence, if i add 1 new column to the module and want to see it on a dahsboard, i have to show ALL 48 columns then remember which 24 it was they had showing before and in which order, re select and show adding the the new column to the view before saving. Taking screen dumps or writing them on a piece of paper to remember which columns were visible before and in which order.... surely there is a better solution?

Hi that was the only solution until a recent release. Thanksfully no more!!
You can now use the "Select items to show" functionality
You can access this from the Format menu or right click whilst hovering over any row or column
You can then use the selectors in the middle to hide/show/reorder items
