Data Loss with Inroducing Time Range

So in the current setup, a module is dimensioned by Model- calendar time dimension and the horzion is from 2021 to 2026, the granularity being weeks.

This setup is used in prod since go live for 2 years now.

We realised the span of time for data in that particular module can be reduced.

Idea now is to introduce a time shorter time range say from 2023 to 2026.

My doubt is time range is effectively a change in dimension, which may lead to data loss. If I introduce a time range in the dimension of this module will the full data be lost . I understand that 2021& 2022 data is lost because its not included in time range. Will the data be lost also for the period included in the time range. because of the change of dimension.

    That's right, you will not lose the data for 2023 to 2025.
