August 2024 platform releases
Check out the latest Anaplan feature updates and enhancements in our August 2024 release notes. The information below offers supplemental information to that post.
UX
- Font color conditional formatting
Page builders can now select font as a style for conditional formatting for any Grids in UX pages, tables in Management Reporting, and variance columns on a table.

- Rich text formatting (for end users)
End users can now apply rich text formatting to editable text in grids and field cards to add commentary or highlight summaries and key points.
Photo: Video: - Conditional page navigation based on line items
Conditional navigation action buttons in the UX can now use either list-formatted properties or line items, allowing for additional flexibility and following model building best practices.
- Workflow: Line item driven decision steps
Configure decisions and approvals to be assigned to users based on a connected line item, allowing model logic to determine who should approve at each stage of the process.
- Workflow: Skippable decisions and approvals
Decisions and approvals can be optionally skipped if the line item used to define the approvers is blank, adding more flexibility in handling approval steps.
- Workflow: Model role driven decision steps
Workflow Owners have the flexibility to issue an approval to all users who hold a specified model role, allowing for everyone who holds that role to be notified when approval is required.
- Re-ordering categories and pages
Page builders can drag and drop pages within an App from one category to another using the grabber icon. Using this feature, page builders can create their own custom sequential view of pages to be displayed to end users. Page builders can also change the order of categories on the left hand panel and ensure to do a quick browser refresh for the changes to reflect. The custom order is maintained until further changes in the App is performed.
Security
- Manage users in Administration
Tenant Administrators can now disable user assignments from the model's user management tab and allow on User Administrators to create users in the tenant.

I just realized it is now possible to re-order UX pages with drag and drop, essentially bypassing the automatic ordering within a category. Did I miss this new feature ?🤔Not available for "Uncategorized" category

We noticed the ability to drag and drop pages too. It appears that users, regardless of role or Workspace admin access, can drag and drop pages. This seems like a gap in functionality. Is there a way to handle this?

Even end users ? I didn't test it….I am assuming they would be able to re-order like "local settings" rather than a centralized re-ordering.
Anyway, I think the vast majority of the implementations got used to prefixing pages based on the process steps. If end users were able to reorder pages without control there could certainly be some confusion/misalignments ? @GingerAnderson, sorry for abusing name dropping 😅 would you be able to help finding the stream manager for this feature and add this on this post ? Unless maybe this is already falling into the September release post ?

I tested this as a non-WSA end user and do NOT have the ability to drag and drop pages. I wonder if the end users @sthomsen observed this with have Page Builder roles?

@nicole.johnson good call. We retested with a true end user and they cannot move pages around. However our client did notice that some pages got reordered after the update and only he would have had the ability to make those changes.
We took away page builder access, WSA, and full access role for one of our model builders and she could still reorder pages with the drag and drop feature
Update: User cleared the cache and re logged in and that fixed the issue.

Hi all -
We are aware that you may have experienced some confusion with a release that went out yesterday. We want to assure you that this is not a bug, but rather new functionality that has been implemented to enhance the re-ordering capabilities for categories & pages within an App.
To provide further context, some Apps have page builders who can each see a subset of pages (based on their model accesses). For example, if Page Builder 'A' reorders the pages they can see using drag and drop and then another Page Builder, 'B' reorders the pages based on what they can see, the changes made by the page builder who made their changes first (In this instance, Page Builder 'B') would remain. Page Builder 'A’s' pages fall to the bottom of the list.
We want to assure you that this is expected behaviour, but we understand that it may not be the most ideal solution. Moving forward, we recommend that page builders who have access to all or most of the App's pages should be responsible for re-ordering the table of contents.
Our team is working on updating Anapedia with this advice as soon as possible to avoid any further confusion. We appreciate your understanding and patience.Joanna, Anaplan Product Team

@Alessio_Pagliano @sthomsen @nicole.johnson Tagging you to make sure you saw Joanna's comment on this thread. Thanks!

Hello @GingerAnderson ,
Is this feature still on the short-term roadmap ?

@BenjaminLambert This update has been delayed, but is still planned to be done by the end of the year. Currently, it's possible to update column widths by dragging the column width and resizing manually. The more granular precision to add exact column width sizes in the settings will be rolled out in a few months. 😀
Thanks!

The rich text formatting has in my opinion a major risk, if you enable it on an existing column that already has inputs in it, this will add HTML tags into the existing cell (this is also not reversible, disabling it again does not remove the HTML tags. Do not enable this in PROD unless you are comfortable having it directly change the cell contents themselves. There is no warning that turning this on in the NUX will directly change the contents of the cell in the backend
EDIT: May have jumped the gun here, it wont add new HTML tags on existing comments, it just wont remove the RTF html tags if you turn it off afterwards

@brettnish As you've mentioned in your comment edit, these HTML tags wont be added to existing text in the rich text enabled line item. However, it is true that in the model all rich text will display the HTML tags, this includes any CSV exports. There is a warning next to the 'enable rich text' setting in the Right hand panel explaining any rich text added to a card will only render in the UX.
