Enable Highlighting / Selecting / Copying Row labels in UX Grids
Some customers have raised a request about being able to highlight/select/copy the contents of a grid row's label. For instance, in the screen shot below, the grid's row labels include Bookings, Pitch Rate, Revenue, Payroll, etc. If a user clicks one one of these row labels, it doesn't select that particular label, rather the whole row. Sometimes users want to copy just the value in the label itself.
A practical example, there the Rows' Dimension = "Products". When planners are doing their planning in Anaplan, they sometimes need to review related transactional data for that item in their ERP system. They wish they could just do a select/ copy of the product number in the Anaplan Row label then paste it in the search in ERP.
The work around is to manually type in the number (risk of manual error, especially if the label / product number is long)
In large organizations with thousands of items planned by hundreds of planners, the impact of such a user-friendly improvement can be substantial.
So this is impacting end users, like planners, managers … anyone who does any kind of planing involving dimensions like products, geography, accounts, cost centers, employees, sales regions, and more.
The ideal solution is an option where the user can click on the row label, thus selecting the lable, and copy it. Notice in the screenshot below, we can do this for the values in the cells to the right of the row labels, but it is not possible to do this for the row labels themselves.
