Advantages of using Native versions:

  1. Use switchover functionality
  2. Anaplan has some formulas specific to versions. We can use Formula scope which allows user to apply formula on one version and input the values at same time as well.
  3. Use compare feature

Disadvantages of using native versions:

  1. Cannot set versions as a list item format
  2. Cannot use lookup or sum when referencing version
  3. You cannot create subsets

Vice-versa for custom scenarios.
