Unlock Efficiency with Hierarchy Filters in Anaplan NUX

As Anaplan Model Builders, we’re always looking for ways to streamline processes and deliver exceptional user experiences. One of the most powerful tools at our disposal is the Hierarchy Filter in Anaplan’s NUX. When used effectively, it can save time, reduce redundancy, and ensure consistency across your models.

The key to success lies in applying hierarchy filters at the page level. Instead of configuring filters for each grid individually, a single filter setting can cascade across all grids, charts, and visualizations on the page. This not only simplifies maintenance but also ensures data consistency.

For example, imagine you’re building a Sales performance dashboard with multiple grids showing data at these three level
1.Region
2.Product
3.Time
By applying a hierarchy filter at the page level.
If you select “North America” in region filter, all grids on that page automatically reflect data for North America region, and same filter can be applied for other two dimensions —no need to apply the filter repeatedly for each grid.

Start by building clean, well-structured hierarchies—your filters are only as good as the data they rely on. Embrace dynamic filtering to empower end-users, allowing them to interactively switch between levels or nodes. Optimize for performance by filtering at higher levels and avoiding overloading your models with too many filters.

Always test and validate your filters to ensure accuracy and alignment with user needs. Document your filter logic and train end-users to maximize adoption.

Hierarchy filters transform static dashboards into dynamic, interactive tools, enhancing both efficiency and user experience.
