Clearing a List-Formatted Line Item When Using "Only Update Imported Cells"

Hi,

I have an action where a line item (list-formatted) is meant to be cleared after a user input. I am using the same module as both the source and the target. But due to the module being multi-dimensional, I am using "only update imported cells" option for the import mapping.

The filtering works fine as only intended items are in my saved view. However, when I set the format of source line item as no data, or text (with "BLANK" as formula), or the same list as the target (with "BLANK" as formula or no formula), the target is still not cleared. If I change it to "clear target prior to import" it will clear more than the intended cells. How do I go about this?

I've seen the same problem with Anaplan before and there is no perfect solution, also depends on the dimensions in the module and if this is Polaris or Classic engine.

2 options that could work (I was only using them in Classic engine though):

• "No Data" line requires "Clear target prior to import". If there is a different filter across a dimension (for example different months to be cleared for each version) system will clear more lines than it should (same periods in all selected versions). Maybe the blank action can be split into 2-3 separate import "no data" steps to work this around (for example separate blank step for each version with different month filter)
• With classic engine: a line with BLANK or "" or 0 in the formula to have the same dimensionality as the module (this will generate size impact). Then it can be imported back to clear the Line item. In Polaris I would assume BLANK = no data which means no cells to import and it will not work the same way as "No Data" line option.
