Yes, create an “error” list with your error messages.

If you are referring to the Notification Action, then unfortunately you cannot have the body of the message be derived from a line item. You can pre-configure the body with a standard message for all users (which can then be overriden when someone clicks the button in the UX). The only field you can drive via a line item is the target recipients.
When the user is directed back into the Anaplan, they will land on the target page with the context preserved, provided you enable the Make context aware option.
