Hierarchy Filter not working on a worksheet

When we use hierarchy filter as a page selector in a worksheet we can show/hide levels of the hierarchy.

But when we use the same hierarchy filter on any card in Additional Insights, we do not get the option to show/hide levels of the hierarchy.

In my case I want hide the sizes (M7 level) from the context selector and only show the parents. The page selector is at M4 level and the dimension of the card in additional insights is at M7 level so I cannot sync with the page selector since I will be missing two levels (M5 & M6).

Is there a workaround to show only the levels required for the cards published in Additional insights?

  • When I removed the parent from context selector, same is reflecting in the Additional Insights Grid selector. If that's what you also want, select till M4 level in context and same should show in the Additional Insights, see if you have any other selector for same dimension.

Let me know if there is any other detail i might be missing here..

  • Hi Dikshant,

The level of granularity of the main grid and the additional insights grid are different.

The main grid which is published on the worksheet is at M4 dimensionality so the page selector is at M4 level only.

The grid which is published on the additional insights panel is at M7 level which I want to control using M6 context selector. This is were I am placing challenge where I cannot show/hide any levels for grids published on the additional insights.

Hope I am able to articulate the problem now.

  • I think I understand what you're trying to do..

Part of your issue is that a worksheet cannot have additional page context selectors, unless they're part of the main card (whereas in boards, you can use a separate text card to bring in additional page context selectors).

The other part of your issue that is, as you've stated, you cannot show/hide levels using a separate selector. You can get around this, although you will need to introduce a separate text card to introduce additional context selectors, but only in the sidepanel (which doesn't look great).

Have attached an example of this below using an Employee hierarchy,

    • Firstly, overview of page context selector (no filters applied) with details by employee

    • Additional employee information by year (in the sidebar).

    • Text card used as a workaround to show Department level as the selector (note that we've removed the employee level from this selector).

Is that what you were trying to do?

If you're specifically trying to select levels to show on the additional insights section (..which I don't think you are), you could do this by applying a filter/levels to show in the grid configuration screen, e.g.

Hope the above helps in some way.

  • @NilanjanDutta Indeed, if Additional Insights have different dimensionality/granularity, you cannot manage the show/hide…so, the way to solve this is to publish as the main worksheet the same granularity: M7 list.

    • Create a module with M7 list…but with subsidiary view line-item as M4 and publish this list as main worksheet
    • as the select it will appear the M7 list on which you can apply show/Hide with M6

….this will solve the synchronization…but the M4 line-items will appear in "Read-Only" because they are subsidiary view… In order that the users can input data, they need to push F8 to drill down to the input module…

…or you can use a board page… but will lose the functionality of the Additional Insights…

I do not see a perfect solution :(
