Import data in to the module

When I import data in to a module, is it inserted into the underlying lists that are used as dimensions while creating the module?

Do the lists and modules have own storage? Any documentation would be very helpful.

Lists may be shared between several modules and each should be populated using a list import prior to populating module data. https://help.anaplan.com/601c4dd0-7000-4b9a-b4a3-1269957068d9-Import-Data-into-Lists provides more information on list imports.
