ADO connection to SAP

With the ADO connection to SAP. Can a SAP report be created and then ADO will connect to the SAP report rather than having to export the SAP report in to a file. My understanding is that ADO can connect to SAP directly but not sure if can only connect to SAP raw tables or whether it can connect to an SAP custom report. Also, are there different behaviours depending on the version of SAP
