Hi all,

I’m having trouble grasping how “mapping” works in Anaplan when importing data and aligning dimensions. I keep getting confused about when to map to lists vs. line items vs. time, and how to handle mismatched names and hierarchies. Could someone explain, in simple terms.

Think of Anaplan as a multi-dimensional cube.

When you import data, you need to tell Anaplan which column/row in your source belongs to which dimension in your model.

1. When to map?

If you are importing data to a module, you need to make sure all the dimensions used in the module that you’re trying to load are defined/exist in your source—by name/code/date

2. How to map?

As for the mapping process itself, default will usually be by automatic match (by name/code), but you can also do manual mapping if needed.

3. how to handle mismatch names/hierarchies?

could you give a specific case example for this? as different case may require different treatment.
