Associate Level Certification

So I am in the process of completing my Professional Model Building Certification and just got this message?

My understanding is once you complete Level 3 you need to have certain amount of experience before you can take the Professional Solution Architect Certification Exam correct?

If i opt in to the Associate Level Certification, can I still pursue the Professional Solutions Arch Certification later? or is it a one or the other type?

My thought is I could finish level 3, take the Associate Level Certification exam and be an Associate Solutions Architect while gain the necessary experience to take the Professional exam. But not sure.

My understanding is the associate path was created for very specific customer needs, for those who will may play a more passive model building role and as such may require less comprehensive end to end knowledge. It is not intended to be a stepping stone certification.
