FCR: How to Delete Custom Dimensions from Default Consolidation Model

Currently in FCR, I am attempting to delete a custom dimension that was added to a default consolidation model. I have the appropriate permissions enabled and am able to delete dimensions from other consolidation models that I have created. However, for the default consolidation model, the trash icon is disabled (grayed out), and I am unable to delete the custom dimension.

Could you please advise on the correct procedure or any prerequisites required to delete a custom dimension from a default consolidation model?

It is possible to delete a custom dimension in Anaplan FCR from a Consolidation model.

To do so, please delete the selected dimension by clicking "Delete" in the dimension's pane. Only dimensions that are not used in a data model can be deleted. If you want to delete a dimension that is currently used in a data model, the dimension must first be removed from all the "objects" in which is referenced:

Consolidation models,
Reports
Rules or mappings
Input forms

Deleting dimensions from a data model can cause potential loss of data.

To clarify, our intention is not to delete the dimension itself, but rather to exclude it from the set of dimensions that constitute the default consolidation model.

We would appreciate it if you could kindly advise whether there is a way to remove a custom dimension from the default consolidation model.

It is not possible to remove dimensions from the Default Consolidation Model within the "Model view" tab: the only way to remove a dimension from the Default Consolidation Model is to delete it "physically" from the data model, as described in my previous answer.

The alternative is to create another Consolidation Model view that includes all relevant dimension and not the one that you would not like to have it visible. A model view allows you to simplify the view of an Anaplan Consolidation data model by creating a filtered subset of the visible dimensions, hierarchies, and members.

A model view simplifies the view of a Anaplan Consolidation data model by:

Hiding dimensions and providing defaults for those hidden dimensions.
Providing a default layout when retrieving data so that certain dimensions can be pre-assigned to the rows, columns, and slicers of a grid-based report. This predefined layout provides a suggested starting point, but the end-user can change the orientation of the view, if required, on a particular report without changing the view definition.

I may not have explained this clearly, so my intention may not have come across correctly.

We want to remove the dimension at the data model level, not at the model view level.

We would appreciate it if you could kindly advise whether there is a way to remove a custom dimension from the default consolidation model.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, my fault.

Unfortunately if a dimension is part of the Default Consolidation model, the dimension itself cannot be deleted, because it is attached to the model.

While Dimensions can be removed from other models but not from the "Consolidation" one.

The only way to delete the dimension is to delete the Consolidation model and re-create it, but this operation will also delete all data linked to the data model.
