How to Implement Selective Access with Flat Lists

Hi Anaplanners I need assistance on achieving this.

I have:

* Flat Region list (e.g., Region A, Region B…)
* Flat Retailer list (e.g., Retailer 1, Retailer 2…)
* In the spoke model, these become a composite hierarchy (Region → Retailer), which makes selective access easy.
* But in the Data Hub, the lists are flat, and I want users to see only the retailers in their region.

Goal

To enable selective access in the Data Hub so that users only see retailers belonging to their region — without having a composite hierarchy list.

Please any advice on how this can be achieved will be really appreciated.

You can achieve this using mapping between retailer & region (Flat lists).

1. Set up a module with the mapping of retailer-region.

2. Set up another module with users & flat region and determine the read access there using a boolean.

3. Create another module with users & retailers and pull the boolean value here using the mapping established in step #1

4. Use this boolean as a filter (Filter would be boolean = true) & create a saved view.

5. Import in the users tab using this view

You would need selective access to all the members of the list to be able to see the view correctly. Easiest way here would be to add a top level & give yourself access to that.

This way the retailers would only be able to see their respective regional data.

In a Data Hub model in Anaplan, selective access normally works best with a hierarchical list (Region → Retailer). Since your Data Hub only has flat lists, you can still control visibility using a mapping module + dynamic cell access (DCA) or list subset logic.    Zelis Providers
