Model to Model Import Issue

I have two actions one that pulls a list, using code, from model A to model B and then a second that pulls data associated with that list.

The first one works perfectly - every item with it's associated parent is there but on the 2nd action some of the data points don't get pulled across.

I've cleared the list a couple of times and also rebuilt entirely the import but for a certain set of list items the data just doesn't want to be imported.

Any thoughts Community?

Should probably also add it's a list of about 100k items in it and about 6k aren't making their way through.

That's … bizarre. Curious of the outcome.

I assume there is no error log? I've noticed that Anaplan tries to be efficient and doesn't import data points that it perceives to be the same from source to target. But you're saying that the source and target data points are different, but still don't get imported. Bizarre.

@Stacey_Gibbens nothing on it to suggest that data wasn't coming across. There are some additional line items in the source that aren't used in the target so there's that error message but apart from that... like you say bizarre

@andrewtye this is only a model-to-model action (manual or kicked off by an internal Anaplan tool like CloudWorks or ADO) and not managed by Informatica or other external ETL tool?

I might force a close and reload of the model to see if that does it…. Stranger things have worked.

@andrewtye very happy to help. I assume you are fixing the 2nd import on the code and not the name? Also, are we talking Classic, Polaris, mix?

@rob_marshall yes with code and it's classic on both sides. I'll have another check on Monday just in case of dumbness but I've never seen an import where it's only a partial load and everything else is working

100k items with around 6k missing is definitely unusual. I’d be curious whether the missing items have anything in common — for example, a specific parent, property, or data type. Comparing a few records that load successfully against a few that don’t might help narrow down where the issue is occurring.

Post-weekend - had a thought about the saved view.
I switched up what dimensions were visible on the page and this solved it - the view now looks like this

Previously the version was a selector and on the "Latest Forecast" this is where there wasn't a value. So the import was pulling through all numbers but only if there was a number in the visible forecast. Which I knew is something that could impact particular exports types but didn't realise it could impact an import. @rob_marshall is this supposed to happen like this or should I raise a support ticket as feel like it's a behaviour that isn't quite right.

@andrewtye it depends on how the filter was set up. And if you are doing model to model, again, if you aren't filtering on time, Time could be set in the columns or page selection. Essentially, when you are creating a filter, what it is filtering should be in the rows. Is this a bug? Some could say yes, but it has also always been like this, which isn't saying it is correct.

@rob_marshall - the filter was on time which was a row. there was no filter on version but it appeared to only take the data it could "see". feels like a ticket might be worthwhile even if it's a "expected behaviour" type.
