Remove old products

I have a list of obsolete products received in our DataHub that need to be removed from the DataHub and downstream models.

How can I perform the impact analysis to identify where these products are being used, and what is the recommended way to delete only these specific products, considering that the product list contains many other active products? Thanks.

I recommend checking dependencies in each target model by reviewing modules dimensioned by the Product list, import actions, saved views, and formulas referencing those products. Mark the products as inactive first and run all downstream processes. If no errors, missing mappings, or unexpected data changes occur, it should be safe to delete them.

Thank you for your reply. Could you elaborate on what specific dependencies I should check for before permanent deletion, and what results/indicators confirm it is completely safe?

Regarding target models (Spokes): they do not import directly from the staging module. Instead, they consume downstream ODS modules whose dimensions rely on lists populated by this list of products(it contains other active products).

What is the recommended best practice to perform the impact analysis across these target models in this Hub-and-Spoke setup?

Mark products as inactive first, perform impact analysis and testing, and permanently delete them only after confirming there are no dependencies.
