“Month” filter in Anaplan XL

Hello everyone,

I recently started using Anaplan XL to update our Excel files.

I’m having an issue with a dynamic cell.

Every month, I copy and paste an Excel file that I update with the current month. In Excel, I have a user module that’s necessary to update the reports based on who’s using them. This user module defines the month in Anaplan.

I’m facing a problem where, for example, I update my Excel file for August. However, if I go back to check the July file, the month shown in that file is August. It changed because, in Anaplan, the user is now set to August. Is there a way to lock the month for a report?

Hi TristanQuante,

You can disable the "Refresh grid on open" option in the Grid Properties, under 'Behavior'. Doing so will prevent grids from auto-refreshing on file open (just be sure to apply to the Workbook level). This means if you save a copy of the file (after making this change), if you were to ever open the copied file back up it will not auto refresh the grid & instead just show you the values as of the last time the file was saved.

Just note: disabling this means you will have to manually refresh the grid if you wanted to refresh it after opening the file, as it won't auto update on file open after.

If you save a grid's settings as your defaults, you can then apply it to the entire workbook. Some notes on this here for reference:

Just note default behavior will carry over into any new file you have created thereafter (unless you load/save a different set of default settings).
