Hi everyone,
I'm building an Actual vs. Budget P&L reporting module in Anaplan using a Line Item Subset (LIS) to display the P&L items.
I would like to extend my report to include three additional columns under a "% of Revenue" section:
- Act % = Actual amount / Actual Revenue
- Bud % = Budget amount / Budget Revenue
- % Var = Act % − Bud %
For example, my report would look like this:
P&L Item | Act | Bud | Var $ | Act % | Bud % | % Var |
|---|
Revenue | 500 | 1,000 | -500 | 100% | 100% | 0% |
Expense | 200 | 100 | 100 | 40% | 10% | 30% |
My question is: How can I calculate these percentages dynamically for each P&L line item when the report is driven by a Line Item Subset?
Specifically, how can I reference the Revenue line item as the denominator for every P&L item, while keeping Actual and Budget calculations separate?
Would you recommend using a separate calculation module to retrieve total Revenue, or is there a more efficient approach using the LIS and the existing reporting module?
I'd appreciate any suggestions on the appropriate module structure, formula logic, and Anaplan best practices.
Thank you!
