As an Anaplan model grows, modules can gradually accumulate more line items, formulas, and business logic. At some point, splitting a module into smaller ones might make it easier to maintain, but it can also introduce additional dependencies.
I'm curious how other modelers decide when it's time to split a module rather than keep extending the existing one.
What usually drives that decision?
- Formula complexity and readability
- Calculation performance
- Different dimensionality or business purposes
- Reusing calculations across multiple modules
- Ease of maintenance and future changes
Do you follow any rules of thumb, or does it depend entirely on the model?
