What is the process for viewing a workspace map like a model map in Anaplan?
Hello, I'm attempting to figure out how to examine workspace maps, similar to Model maps. It will be useful for us to keep track of the dataflow between models. Is there anything we have for Anaplan? TIA

How to import Negative Values from txt files
Hi All, I am importing data from tab separated txt files and I noticed wherever the values are negative, its populating as positive numbers in Anaplan. As shown in above example the negative values are denoted by a negative sign after the number in the txt file. Is this format supported by Anaplan? Thanks in advance

Does file ID change if I update the import source for an action?
Hi all, We are testing bulk API's data import, on which I had 2 queries. Suppose I create an action in Anaplan for a file and then data in loaded using bulk API's, but later I went to manage import data sources and updated the import source of that action with a new file. Will this change the file ID of the file which is…

Data hub - What Data should reside in Data hub
Hi Team, New to Anaplan Modeling. Based on the training, its my understanding that data hub is important to act as source of truth for data that is shared between multiple spoke model. I see data hub as a repository for list, hierarchies and data modules that are shared in more than one spoke models. My question is what…

Possibility to put a process into a process
Right now we have a large integration process with ~240 actions importing data from 8 different models into our Data Hub. As you might imagine, it's difficult to determine the right order of actions with the current interface. I would like to have 8 sub-processes (e.g. 1 per model) to have a better overview of the content.…

Datahub Data Mapping Ideas
Hi folks, How would you map of what's coming to your Datahub and what data is leaving the hub to any spoke model? We have a big Datahub with over 100 processes and sometimes when we have a data mapping issue it is very challenging to have clear visibility of what data connection is missing. We use the Hypercare app that…

Why several actions in process are not updated?
Hello, I have been importing data from a data hub daily for several months now. In the last days the last 2 actions of the process are ignored on the update. The actions are very simple. It is importing a date from the data hub. I can't understand the issue. All the other actions are working properly. When I am launching…

Spring refresh — Anaplan edition
As you consider the areas in need of a spring refresh in your home or office, it is also a great time to do the same for your Anaplan models. The most difficult part about cleaning is figuring out where to start and selecting the tools and equipment needed to get to the finish line. Let’s break it down into three…

5.07-11 House a Data Hub in a separate Workspace
House the Data Hub in its own workspace. This allows for the data hub to expand in size without disrupting inbound or outbound integrations. It also allows for segregation of duties (users who manage the data, are kept separate from the production models)
-
5.07-09 Avoid using a Top Level for large lists of transaction data
Don't create a transaction list with a top level. The calculations will need to sum for all items in the list even if only a single item is added Exception: 5.07-09a Check totals: If a check total of all transactions is needed, but again using the flat attributes modules is preferable Related to Rule: 5.07-10 Add…
-
5.07-10 Add intermediate sub totals to transaction lists
If you need the totals for validation purposes, create intermediate subtotals within the transaction list. This will significantly reduce the calculation load Related to Rule: 5.07-09 Avoid using a Top Level for large lists of transaction data
-
5.07-08 Pre aggregate for downstream exports
It is more efficient to aggregate the data in the hub and then export it, rather than accumulate it through the import to the downstream models
-
5.07-07 Keep Transactional Analysis out of the planning models
Use the Data hub (or another reporting model) to keep detailed transactional data out of the main planning models. Large amounts of historic transactional data can inflate the size of the planning model and lead to reduced performance.
-
5.07-06 Master data should be built by the source system
Try and avoid creating Master Data in the hub. This should really come from the source system(s)
-
5.07-05 Use System modules
Use System modules for filtering data (current period, current FY year, etc.) Related to Rule: 2.01-15 Filters in separate modules Best Practice article: Filter Best Practice Data Hubs: Purpose and Peak Performance
-
5.07-04 Get the correct format
Get the data from IT in the correct format as well as the correct granularity Related to Rule: 5.04-06 Import the correct granularity
-
5.07-03 Flat lists for data export
Use the flat list structures to create modules and views for downstream exports
-
5.07-02 No Analytical modules
Try and keep Analytical modules out of the Hub
-
5.07-01 No Hierarchies
There should be no need for composite list hierarchies in the Hub. They can be built to "test" the actions, but after testing they should be deleted Exceptions: 5.07-01a Validation purposes: If data is needed to be consolidated to check against source systems, although the flat modules with attributes can be used to sum…

Good Data Leads to Good Decisions
We all know that Anaplan is allowing business users to make fact-based decisions quicker and faster than ever before, but we consistently hear from customers that their data quality is not up to par. “Garbage in, garbage out” or “dirty data” are phrases you’ve probably heard. I hate to be so blunt, but data will never be…
