Time Subsets

I would like to see shorter time periods that we could control for example rolling 90 days, 16 weeks etc.  Realizing there would need to be some sort of trigger of control set a start point.  

 

A potential user story I need to be able to solve is:

 

I plan by month but need a 90 day outlook

As part of that 90 day outlook I need to flow inventory or otherwise leverage the tools that are available to time dimension, but I don't need 275 more days of sparsity x other lists.  Polaris may help here, but might not be the right solution for the rest of the engine.

Lots of potential if we could have access to time subsets as well as time superset.

 

You may find useful to merge this ideas with these ideas, while not completely identical, go over the need to have access to more granular / smaller time ranges while maintaining the rolling / dynamic time period (i.e. the opposite of having to manage time ranges manually)

@rob_marshall : already know about this trick and while it works for some light use cas, when we go into more bigger and industrials models, that wont do.

Our experience using this workaround : we ran right into the 2**31 ceiling limit using custom time dimensions + mapping time to this during a critical production run... So we had to intervene in emergency. hence the request to have manageable Time subsets
