Line Items Not in the Hierarchy of the Line Item Subset

I have inserted line items into a module where I have a line item subset set up. In the module where I am using the line item subset, the inserted line items do not fall in the hierarchy in the subset.

The parent of the inserted line items must be included in the line item subset for the line items to fall in the hierarchy, e.g. if there a line item subset containing line items Total Compensation, Salary, Bonus, etc where Total Compensation is the parent of Salary and Bonus.  Then Total Compensation must be included in the line item subset for Salary and Bonus to fall in the hierarchy.
