Workflow enhancements!
To make life even easier for our workflow users, here's a roundup of all the enhancements released over the past month!
- Scheduling: When you start a Workflow template, you now have the option to Start immediately or Start based on a schedule. The schedule option lets you specify a start and end date, the times of day you want the workflow to start, and how you want the workflow to repeat. You get a quick preview that shows how your schedule will work. You can also repeat it on different daily or monthly schedules.
- Decision steps stop on reject by default: When you add a decision task to a template you're working on, you'll automatically get the Stop workflow on rejection branch, which you can switch off if needed.
- New workflow view: The visualization tool we previously introduced for the builder is now the default when viewing workflows in other modes. For example, when changing settings or tracking progress of a running workflow. This completes our basic work to deal with branching and parallel task flows in the future. It also updates the look and feel, and makes it easier to navigate large processes.
- Trigger workflows from a UX page: Workflow templates can now be linked to buttons on UX pages and made available for end users to use. You don't need to be a Workflow owner to start or schedule a workflow. You can even make things more intelligent by setting dimensions in your workflow template to Sync to workflow. This will capture the page context when the button is clicked and pass that into the workflow as the selected context used for things like looking up approvers and completing data-writes. - Create tasks and approvals from Management Reports: Builders can now select Management Reports as the subject of a task or approval. Reports now have the benefits of alerts and notifications, links from emails, workflow progress tracking, and audit logging.
