In as much detail as possible, describe the problem or experience related to your idea. Please provide the context of what you were trying to do and include specific examples or workarounds:
The ability to create a ragged hierarchy with parents of the list member being present in the same list help with certain calculations. This ability already exists for general lists. However, having it for numbered lists would be beneficial too as it helps overcome the display name issue.
Use case - Creating waterfall bridges for comparing different versions. It is a custom bridge where the user will specify the variance reasons. Using an import action this reason is updated as the name of the waterfall list member to show the correct reason in the chart.
However, when it is a 3 layer bridge (Budget to Forecast to Actual comparison) where say marketing cost is 1 variance item. It needs to be present twice - in the budget to forecast bridge as well as forecast to actual bridge. In case of general lists since we cannot have the same name, there is a need to create an "Adjustment" line item to call the 1st member as Marketing Cost & 2nd item as Marketing Cost. (With the extra .) Depending on how many times this needs to be repeated it would have to be with a lot of unnecessary additional letters or symbols (If it was needed 4 times, it'd end up looking like marketing cost… which isn't a nice view)
With numbered list's display name functionality it'd be very easy to avoid this step.
How often is this impacting your users?
Monthly
Who is this impacting? (ex. model builders, solution architects, partners, admins, integration experts, business/end users, executive-level business users)

What would your ideal solution be? How would it add value to your current experience?
Enabling the ability for a list member to be a parent of another member in the same list. Same as the general list.

The test 1 that needs to be repeated twice needs an extra letter for the 2nd item.
