Great topic, and perfect month to share what we are thankful for!

There have been so many great features this year!! A recent one that really helps those of us in the model builder persona is the "Used in pages" within Modules Beta, release notes here: August 2025 releases | Anapedia.

I can't tell you how many times I've been working on spring cleaning or model enhancements where I want to change or remove a module but I first need to understand the UX impacts. This could become a very time consuming exercise in large models with lots of App pages. With this handy new feature there is now enhanced visibility between the builder persona (modules) and the end user persona (pages). I'm thankful for this enhancement bringing us all closer together!!

There have been some great enhancements this year, but the biggest game-changer for me was the visibility of calculation effort, which was added to the classic engine in March. While we always endeavour to use best practice in our builds, being able to view calculation effort gives you great visibility over the optimization of your model. By using the export line items functionality, you can export the calculation effort values to an external tool (like Excel) and sort by calculation effort to quickly identify the line items taking the greatest effort.

It's a great metric to revisit systematically to ensure changes haven't created a sneaky bottleneck, and your model calculations are running as efficiently as possible.

There has been remarkable progress in Anaplan’s feature development recently.

From a Model Builder’s perspective, the most impactful improvement has been the Calculation Effort insight in Classic engine, which has significantly helped in model optimization. Personally, we have made significant improvement in Performance by refining calculation logics based on this feature, as it clearly highlights which line items consume the most processing effort.

From a UX standpoint, the most awaited and valuable feature, in my opinion, is the Combined Grids capability. This has been one of the best releases of the year. Across my experience whether in FP&A or Supply Chain projects business users have consistently requested to view list attributes or categories alongside monthly or weekly data in a single grid. Previously, we had to create two separate grids for properties and data, which made validation cumbersome for users. With this new feature, users can now easily verify that each product or item aligns with the correct category in one view an improvement that has truly enhanced the business experience.

As a Model Builder, I found the “Used in Pages” column in the Anaplan Beta Modules extremely valuable and a major improvement in model management. It enhanced visibility and traceability between modules and their corresponding pages in the NUX.

Previously, it could be time-consuming to identify which modules were connected to which pages, especially in larger models with multiple dashboards and stakeholders. With the “Used in Pages” column, I could instantly see where each module was being referenced across the app. This not only saved time but also reduced the risk of unintended impacts when making structural changes.

Anaplan's 2025 platform enhancements focus on making the connected planning experience faster, simpler, and more cohesive for both end-users and model builders.

For model optimization, the platform introduced Calculation Effort Visibility in March 2025, which is like a built-in "speedometer" for formulas in classic models, helping builders see exactly which calculations are using the most processing power so they can be optimized for faster performance.

To improve reporting, the Combined Grids (Multi-Module Reporting) feature, released in October 2025, significantly simplified dashboard views by allowing users to pull data from several different planning tables (modules) and display them together in a single, unified report with a shared row axis, making side-by-side comparisons much cleaner.

Finally, dramatically improving visualization and scenario planning, the Network Charts feature was released in January 2025, which allows users to visually map relationships between different parts of their business, like a supply chain. This feature helps planners immediately identify critical connections and bottlenecks, and see the real-time impact of changes right on the visual chart.

Here are some of my favorite features that have greatly helped me in developing and redesigning the UX.

Combined Grids
Now you can show data from multiple modules in one grid on a UX page. Super helpful for comparing and analyzing related info side-by-side.
UX Card Templates
Reuse card designs across dashboards. It saves time and keeps my pages consistent.
Custom Button Styling
Add images and change button colors to match your dashboard style. Looks great and improves user experience!
Beta Module View
A fresh way to manage modules—sort, filter, and see where each module is used. Makes model maintenance much easier.
Module "used in pages" column is vey helpful for model builders
Calculation Effort Column
See which line items are heavy on calculations. Great for optimizing performance and speeding up model.

Anaplan introduced several exciting features this year. Here are some of the key futures and their benefits:

Used in Pages Column in Beta Version
The Modules View Beta now enables model builders to identify which UX pages are linked to each module. This added visibility helps manage dependencies effectively and minimizes the risk of unintended changes.

2. Mobile - Grid conditional formatting

All types of grid conditional formatting are now supported on mobile — Background, Border, Font, and Morse. Page Builders will configure conditional formatting on Anaplan web as usual, and the applied formatting will show up in the Mobile app.

3. UX - Column width override settings

Page builders now have the flexibility to customize column widths within grids on a UX page, ensuring data is presented more clearly, improving readability and usability for end users.
