Description
Currently, scroll bars in Anaplan UX grids and cards only appear when content exceeds the visible area and when you hover over a card and the scroll bars appear. While this behavior is standard, it can create usability challenges for end users, especially when:
- Users are unsure if additional data exists beyond the visible portion.
- Scroll bars are hidden until interaction, making navigation less intuitive.
- Accessibility and user experience suffer on smaller screens or when using touch devices.
Proposed Enhancement
Introduce a page-level or card-level setting that allows builders to force horizontal and/or vertical scroll bars to always be visible, regardless of content overflow. This setting could be:
- Optional toggle in the card configuration panel.
- Applied individually to grids or globally at the page level.
Benefits
- Improved discoverability: Users immediately know that scrolling is possible.
- Enhanced usability: Reduces confusion and improves navigation for large datasets.
- Accessibility: Supports users with motor or visual impairments who rely on visible scroll indicators.
- Consistency: Aligns with UX best practices for enterprise applications where data tables often require scrolling.
