Enable Sort Functionality with Nested dimensions

• Current Limitation:
  • Anaplan restricts sorting functionality on line items or dimensions in columns when rows have nested dimensions.
  • Sorting is only allowed when there is a single dimension in the row axis.
• Impact:
  • Limits the usability of reports that require multiple dimensions in row axes.
  • Reduces the value of recently added features, such as:
    • The ability to nest up to eight dimensions in rows.
    • Polaris functionality supporting multiple dimensions in a module.
• Workaround Limitations:
  • The 'Order List' action is not a viable substitute, as differing data views require distinct sorting methods.
  • Applying multiple sorts simultaneously is not feasible with current workarounds.
• Enhancement Request:
  • Enable sorting on line items and dimensions even when multiple (nested) dimensions are present in the rows.
  • This enhancement would improve flexibility, usability, and analytical capability for complex, multi-dimensional reports.

I see this issue comes up in almost every project I participate. Sorting is a very powerful analytical tool, and unfortunately Anaplan’s current sorting limitation makes this a recurring challenge.

The inability to sort when the dimensions are nested often leads to usability concerns, as this limitation is not intuitive for users and forces us to look for less optimal workarounds.
