Current Behavior
When a record is duplicated, the system automatically assigns the name:
“[Duplicate] (Original record’s name)”.
User Feedback
The duplication feature is widely used by many users. Overall, users find the duplication function very helpful for efficiently creating similar records.
In addition, automatically adding the “Duplicate” prefix is considered a good design, as it makes it easier to distinguish between the original record and the duplicated one.
However, users have also provided feedback that adding an unnecessary prefix to the record name creates extra manual work. In many cases, users need to remove the “Duplicate” prefix after duplication, which negatively impacts the user experience.
For example, when duplicating a record under “Configure Open Periods,” users must manually delete the “Duplicate” prefix each time, even though they expect the duplicated record to retain the same configuration as the original.
Enhancement Request
Request 1: Add Record Duplication with the Same Configuration and Minimize Manual Record Name Edits
We would like to request an enhancement that allows records to be duplicated with the same configuration while also reducing unnecessary manual edits to the record name.
Request 2: Maintain distinguishability between the original and the duplicated record
We suggest considering alternative ways to differentiate records, such as using internal keys/IDs, creation timestamps, or record history.
Request 3: Prevent Unintentional Duplicate Data
We suggest considering an additional duplicate-check mechanism to help users avoid unintended duplication.
