Current Behavior
We understand that Anaplan XL currently does not provide an audit trail functionality.
When using Anaplan XL to write back data to the data model, we encountered a situation where data that previously existed at a certain point in time was unexpectedly deleted or overwritten. At present, there is no mechanism within Anaplan XL to track when such changes occurred, who performed them, or what values were modified.
As a result, when data is mistakenly entered, updated, or deleted through the XL add-in, there is no way to identify what was changed or restore the previous values.
Impact
- Difficulty in identifying the root cause of unintended data changes
- Increased time and effort required for data investigation and recovery
Requested Enhancement
We would like to request the implementation of an Audit Trail (Input History) functionality that logs data changes made through Anaplan XL writeback.
Such functionality would significantly enhance governance, traceability, and risk management when using Excel-based input processes.
Expected Records in the Audit Log
We would expect the audit log to capture the following information:
- When: Timestamp of modification
- Who: User ID who performed the action
- Where: Model and dimensions affected
- What: Type of action (Insert, Update, Delete, etc.)
- (Optional but preferred) Previous value and updated value
Additional Inquiry
In addition to this feature request, we would appreciate clarification regarding the development timeline:
- Is this functionality currently under consideration or included in the product roadmap?
- Is implementation expected within this calendar year?
- If not, are there any recommended interim solutions or alternative approaches to monitor and control writeback changes made through Anaplan XL?
We appreciate your consideration of this request and look forward to your response.
