Business Problem & Current Limitation
- Current State: In our current Polaris implementation, the cumulative dimension index across just five core business dimensions has reached 55.
- The Constraint: With a hard ceiling at 64, this leaves a headroom of only 9 remaining indexes across the entire workspace/model scope.
- Direct Impact:
- Restricted Attribute Expansion: We cannot introduce additional descriptive attributes, rollups, or alternative reporting hierarchies into Polaris modules and reports.
- Diminished Engine Value: One of the primary value propositions for migrating from the Classic Engine to Polaris was sparse-data scalability and advanced multi-dimensional reporting. Reaching this technical bottleneck early in the model lifecycle materially degrades that ROI and caps future architectural scalability.
- Suboptimal Workarounds: Attempting to circumvent the 64-limit by slicing unified reporting into fragmented, lower-dimension grids diminishes business reporting effectiveness and defeats the core reason for investing in the Polaris engine
Proposed Solution & Enhancement
- Raise the Ceiling: Increase the index capacity from 64 to a higher architectural limit (e.g., 128 or 256).
- Proactive Governance Metrics: Provide Model Builders with built-in telemetry in the Model Map or Blueprint/Settings showing exact index consumption and remaining capacity.
