Hi everyone,
I have a custom list that represents versions. Users need to be able to see all versions in UX pages and reports, but one specific version (Version 1) should be read-only.
The problem is that when users run an import action, the action opens a dialog where they can select the version from a dropdown. Even though the user should only have read access to Version 1, the import still allows data to be loaded into that version.
Has anyone seen this before? For more details
Current setup
- We are using a custom version list (not native Versions)
- Users need to be able to see all versions in the front end and in reports, while only able to edit version 2 onwards. So accordingly users has been set the "read" access of version 1, and "write" access to other versions
- Users run an import action
- When the action runs, a dialog appears and the user selects the target version from a dropdown
Issue
Even when the user has only Read access to Version 1, the import still seems to write data into Version 1 when that item is selected in the import action.
Desired behavior
- Version 1 should remain visible for reporting
- Version 1 should not be loadable through the import action
- Ideally, Version 1 should not even appear in the action dropdown
Questions
- Is this expected behavior in Anaplan for import actions using a custom list?
- If a list item is read-only for a user, should that normally prevent imports to that list item?
- Can the import action dropdown be filtered so that read-only list items do not appear?
- Is there any supported way to stop users from importing into a read-only version?
- If not, what is the recommended workaround?
Thanks for any advice.
